Gensler were invited to transform 18,000 square foot within the Flatiron District, utilising the existing hardwood floors, tin ceilings and fluted-white columns. Founded in 1850, Edrington is a privately owned international spirits company.

It is a luxury brand, known for its infamous whiskeys including The Famous Grouse and Cutty Sark, alongside The Macallan, Snow Leopard Vodka and Tequila Partida.

Edrington required a workspace that centralised various teams, celebrated the company’s traditional heritage bit also embodied a ‘home from home’ feel. Looking at the interior design, it seems as though time is allowed to reduce to a slower pace; you’re encouraged to have informal conversations on the sofas or relax on the plush armchairs.

Michael Misiorski, Chief Operating and Chief Financial Officer at Edrington, said, “when we look at how people live in Manhattan, they live in small spaces, they share spaces – and we wanted to create an environment where they actually had space and they could actually feel comfortable, because Manhattan life is hard at times.”

Upon exiting the private elevator, you are welcomed by a wall of whiskey to whet your appetite: Edrington’s extensive collection is displayed on backlit glass shelves. The materials speak for themselves: marble, oak and leather create an opulent yet welcoming atmosphere of civilised calm.

Each room has been tastefully modelled on a different brand within the business portfolio. The lighting fixtures, the textures, the wallpaper; all pay homage to Edrington’s sophisticated heritage production. As you meander through the various rooms, you’re taken back in time by the vintage marketing décor adorning the walls.

This exquisite office caters to 60 employees, and with 180 seats on offer each person has ample choice. Furthermore, the space has been divided in to three sections: meeting rooms, quiet areas and lounges, not forgetting the two kitchens and a full-size cocktail bar. The delicate pieced de resistance comes in the form of cushioned benches for people to put their shoes away and hooks for them to hang their coats making it a truly homely workspace.
