Workspace of the Week - Microsoft Offices, Melbourne
Microsoft's innovative Melbourne office serves as an ideal space for both visitors and clients, designed to be a modern, interactive hub with flexible spaces.
Iconic tech company Microsoft, have recently worked with IA Design to create their offices in Melbourne, Australia.
The 3000m2 space in the Freshwater Towers is split across three levels, and has been driven by an aspiration to enhance the customer experience, through the integration of technology and flexible spaces.
When entering the Customer Experience Centre, curved partitions and feature lighting create leading lines deeper into the floor plate where digital screens, demonstration zones and interactive learning spaces show off Microsoft's impressive and current technologies.
The back of house workspace area consists of task-based and ancillary spaces with standing height work options, breakout areas and even parent's rooms. Microsoft have embraced a human-centric approach to the physical workspace, implementing varying ways of working and enabling staff to share knowledge, innovate, collaborate and imagine.
It was important the finishes and fittings in the space played host to the technology, as well as enhanced the individual elements without toeing the line of kitsch. The offset concrete flooring, integrated lighting and exposed ceilings with soft, layered timbers, planting and tactile upholstery contribute to an inviting environment.
Colour has been used carefully in the design, encouraging an atmosphere of playfulness and fun whilst natural materials create a vibrant and balanced space.
