Industry Trends
On a summer evening in June in the heart of Clerkenwell, we opened our doors to the workplace world, sharing our insights into the industry and inviting others to share theirs! CDW Rewound with Spacestor, celebrating the collective best bits and learnings from both Clerkenwell Design Week and NeoCon 2023.
The new space and the concepts behind it were shared by its creators, Emily Segal and James Lawrence from Gensler, which presented an interesting viewpoint on what went into the conceptualization of our London Design Centre in order to create a playful, experiential, and surprising design.
In a discussion on designing spaces to leave a legacy, we were joined by Jack Pringle, founder of Studio Pringle, and James Lawrence, Gensler, to gain a greater understanding of how the ‘workplace’ should be replaced with ‘where work gets done’. Highlighting the idea that buildings should align with corporate values and contribute positively to the community. This broader perspective emphasizes the role of offices not only as functional spaces but also as contributors to social and environmental responsibilities, put simply the building must become a good corporate citizen.
The best workplaces were seen as those with a compelling narrative behind their design. Creating a repeatable story and methodology for office design can enhance employee engagement and experience, making your people feel part of the space.
Our new London Design Centre continues to be not just a showroom, but a portal where visitors can experience the best of the best in global workplace design. If you haven’t paid a visit, we’d love to show you around – reach out here to book a tour!
A fantastic event, which was a testament to the direction workplace is traveling in, whilst outlining some key points of consideration on the way - employee engagement, balancing focus and collaboration, solving the underutilization of offices, and the value of storytelling in workplace design.
